Regular foot assessment and foot care are essential elements of managing people with diabetes types 1 and 2 and reducing the need for lower limb amputation. In this module, risk factors in the development of diabetes-related foot ulcers are identified and the importance of timely assessment is recognised. Treatment and management of diabetes-related foot ulcers are discussed in relation to blood glucose control, infection, wound care, sleep and pain.
