Course description
The aim of this module is to enhance nurses' understanding of shared decision making and outline its implications for nursing practice. It also explores how healthcare professionals can apply this philosophy to their practice and discusses how this approach to care affects the nurse-patient relationship.

Learning aims and intended outcomes
- Define shared decision making
- Discuss the roles of the nurse and patient in shared decision making, and the effects of this on the nurse-patient relationship

- Give examples of different decision aids and identify how these are used to assist shared decision making
