This learning module discusses how to care for a person after their death in a community setting, and support their family and loved ones. It highlights the importance of ensuring the privacy, dignity and respect of the deceased and of following local and national guidelines.

The term nurse will be used throughout the module but encompasses other healthcare colleagues, such as care support workers and healthcare assistants, as appropriate. It is recognised that the term family is a dynamic concept and may be linked to many different people.
