The aim of this module is to provide awareness of National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance on the management of gastroenteritis in children, in line with evidence-based practice.

Learning aims and intended outcomes
- Describe the pathology and transmission of gastroenteritis
- Outline the signs and symptoms relevant to the assessment of dehydration in children with gastroenteritis
- Explain the systematic approach to rehydration in children with gastroenteritis
- Discuss pharmacological and other considerations in the management of children with gastroenteritis
- Outline guidance and education to be provided to parents for effective management of symptoms on discharge
