Course description
This module aims to increase nurses' knowledge and understanding of the psychological needs of people living with cancer and of those who have completed their cancer treatment. It addresses the main issues in psychological assessment and intervention.
Don't forget that you do not have to complete our two-hour learning modules all in one go. Tailor your learning to fit into your busy schedule by undertaking one or two sections at a time. You can stop and save your learning at any point and pick up where you left off when you return.
Learning aims and intended outcomes
- Identify patients at increased risk of psychological distress
- Identify the psychosocial challenges for patients with cancer and their families
- Discuss the main issues in psychological assessment and intervention with these patients
- Conduct a basic screening for distress as part of a holistic needs assessment
- List the continuing professional development activities that could improve the psychological care provided to patients with cancer and assist in promoting self-care
