Course description

This module aims to enable you to explore your understanding of attitudes, how they affect professional care situations, and their significance for behaviour and helping others to think in new ways. While it is important for all members of the nursing team, and other healthcare professionals, to respect individual rights, there is an onus on the nursing team to promote more positive attitudes, for example in relation to healthy lifestyle, risk management, and effective and efficient ways of working.

  • Describe how beliefs, feelings and behaviour relate to each other
  • Outline how attitudes are formed and why they may be resistant to change
  • Discuss the significance of attitudes to nursing practice, referring to case studies and personal experience as appropriate
